Sunscreen

Sunscreen, also known as sunblock or sun cream, is an important skincare product in India that helps to protect the skin from the harmful UV rays of the sun. It is typically applied to the face and body before going outdoors and is available in a variety of formulations, such as lotions, creams, and sprays.

The Indian market offers a wide range of sunscreen options, with different sun protection factor (SPF) levels and formulations. Some of the most common types of sunscreen in India include:

1. Physical Sunscreen: Physical sunscreens are also known as mineral sunscreens, they contain mineral ingredients such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide that work by reflecting and scattering the sun’s UV rays away from the skin. These sunscreens are suitable for sensitive skin types and are also known for being more natural and organic.

2. Chemical Sunscreen: Chemical sunscreens are formulated with chemicals such as oxybenzone, avobenzone, and octinoxate, that work by absorbing the sun’s UV rays. They are widely available and are often more affordable than physical sunscreens.

3. Broad Spectrum Sunscreen: Broad Spectrum sunscreens protect from both UVA and UVB rays and this is the kind of sunscreen that is recommended to use in India, as UV rays in India are both UVA and UVB.

In India, there is a wide range of sunscreen products available, catering to different skin types and needs. Many Indian brands such as Lotus Herbals, Nivea, and Biotique offer sunscreen products that are specially formulated for Indian skin. International brands like Neutrogena, La Roche-Posay, and Aveeno are also popular in India.

When choosing a sunscreen in India, it’s important to select one that has an SPF (sun protection factor) of at least 30 and provides both UVA and UVB protection.
